Deck the Halls this Holiday Season and be "Fire Smart" in this glorious time of the year. In sharing with the winter safety message from National Fire Administration, National Fire Protection Association, and FEMA, help us "Put a Freeze to Winter Fires." We all like the green furs standing so brightly lit in the living rooms throughout the township and homes decorated so beautifully across the river on Candy Cane Lane. However did you know:
- More than 1/3 of home decorations fires are started by candles.
- Heat sources too close to the Christmas Tree causes 1 in every 4 winter fires
For those putting up Christmas lights on the interior and exterior of your home, remember to throw away light strands with frayed or pinched wires. Also to turn off the holiday lights before going to bed or leaving your home.
Lighting Candles is a common holiday tradition. With 1/3 of home decorations starting by candles, we recommend turning to the electronic battery powered candles and warms this year. If you want to stay the traditional route, please ensure candles are in sturdy holders and remain attended in safe locations out of reach of children and pets.
Christmas Trees should be brightly green and smell good in our homes. Please remember to keep the tree watered ! Trust us, you don't want us to come water your tree for you. If your family has the artificial trees, please remember to check for frayed wires, burn bulbs, and ensuring it does not get to warm. They can and will melt which is not something we want to happen during these cheerful times.
If you or member of your family have any questions, please shoot us a message or give us a call. From all our families to yours, Happy Holidays!
