Trench Rescue in the Township

   
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 - At 0837 hours Station 18 was dispatched for a technical rescue assignment in the 1500 block of Laffayette Parkway in Loyalsock Township for a trench collapse with entrapment. Initial reports had the victim completely buried. MICU 18 responded and immediately called for the status of Life Flight and Task Force 80 to be dispatched. MICU 18 arrived on-scene and found a male entrapped up to his chest. Captain 2-18 arrived on-scene moments before Rescue 18 and established command. Station 18 crews worked to remove soil from around the patient while task force 80 was en route. Task force 80 arrived on-scene and immediately began operations to secure the trench and gain access for EMS personnel. Access was gained and the patient was extricated safely from the trench at approximately 1215 hours.

Units Responding on initial dispatch were MICU 18, AMB 18, Rescue 18, Engine 18, Tower 18, Brush 18, Special Unit 18, Tower 18, and Platoon Chief 91. Units responding as part of Task Force 80 were Engine 14-1, Special Unit 8, Rescue 13, Squad 14, and Task Force 80 Personnel.

Engine 18 Responds to Mutual Aid Box 1-4

 
Saturday, January 30, 2010 - At 0311 hrs, Engine 18 was dispatched to Box 1-4 in the City of Williamsport for a working bedroom fire. Engine 18 arrived on-scene and was instructed by command to establish RIT. Units responding were Engine 18, Engine 1, Engine 4-1, Engine 14-1, Tower 1, and Engine 14 was moved to city headquarters. Friday, January 29, 2010 - At 0645 hrs, Station 18 was dispatched to a working trailer fire on Freedom Road in Loyalsock Township. Chief 2-18 was first to arrive on-scene and found heavy fire from the rear of the structure. Engine 18 laid 400 ft of supply line and made the initial attack on the fire along with Engines 2-1 and 14-1. Units responding were MICU 18, Engine 18, Tanker 18, Rescue 18, Engine 2-1, Engine 14-1, Engine 14, Tanker 15, Tanker 22, and Squad 2 (RIT).
